FAQs

Everything you need to know about our planters, materials, installation, and care.

What makes Mossari Planters different?

Mossari Planters are self-watering, aquarium-mounted plant pots designed to draw water up from your freshwater tank using a passive wicking system. Each planter is 3D printed in small batches using PETG, a premium, water-resistant material built for long-term exposure. The result is a low-maintenance, sculptural planter that supports both your plants and your aquatic environment.

🌱 What types of plants can I use in Mossari Planters?

We recommend tropical houseplants that thrive in consistently moist conditions. Ideal options include:

  • Pothos
  • Peace lily
  • Ferns
  • Orchids
  • Monstera (juvenile)
  • Pilea
  • Spider plants

Avoid succulents or cacti, as they prefer dry roots and are not suited to a self-watering setup.

💧 How does the wicking system work?

Each Mossari Planter includes a built-in wick that draws water up from your aquarium into the root zone of your plant. The wick maintains consistent moisture levels, eliminating the need for frequent watering. Your plant receives hydration directly from the tank — naturally and passively.

🐟 Is PETG safe for fish and aquatic life?

Yes. PETG is an aquarium-safe material that is commonly used in water filtration systems and food-safe containers. It is more durable and water-resistant than PLA, making it ideal for long-term submersion or exposure to humidity.

🧩 Will the planter fit my aquarium?

Mossari Planters come with bracket options for both rimmed and rimless aquariums. Be sure to select the correct bracket type when placing your order. You can also add modular extensions to adjust the height of the planter based on your tank depth or plant needs.

🔧 Can I order replacement parts or extra extensions?

Yes. We offer:

  • Replacement mounting brackets (rimmed and rimless)
  • Additional extension modules in multiple sizes
All components are modular and designed to integrate seamlessly with your existing Mossari system.

🧼 Do I need to clean the planter or wick?

The planter itself is low-maintenance. However, we recommend:

  • Rinsing the wick every few months to prevent buildup
  • Refreshing the soil or substrate every 6–12 months, depending on plant type
  • Gently wiping the planter surface as needed

📦 How long does it take to ship my order?

  • Orders typically ship within 3–5 business days
  • You’ll receive tracking information as soon as your items are packed
